Whitworth workshops that bring art, nature and creativity together that take place come rain or shine.

Play based sessions designed especially for little explorers set in Whitworth’s beautiful park. Try mud painting, water play, den building, bug hunting and lots more led by artists and forest school practitioners.

Every Saturday (term time only), 10:30am-12noon is aimed at under 6s with play based, child led activities such as water play, mud painting & den building. These activities allow your child to move around in their own time, playing and exploring in a safe and enabling environment. These sessions encourage risk taking, imagination, creativity, teamwork turn taking, social interaction, physical development and learning about nature to name a few.

If you have an older child (over 6) that would like a bit more of a led session then join in from 1-2pm. You will get to work alongside an artist to develop skills and knowledge around both art and nature. We create a beautiful outdoor art studio to inspire children’s imagination and creativity. Try things like painting from nature, willow weaving and up-cycling.

Both sessions are absolutely free and materials are all provided – it’s great opportunity to get outdoors and spend quality time together. No need to book just come along.

Children and adults will need to wear appropriate clothing for wet weather – wellies and all-in-one rainsuits or jackets and trousers. Plus an extra set of dry clothes for going home in just in case.

Sessions are inspired by the Forest School ethos and are run by both Forest School practitioners and artists. If you have an adventurer, love art and the outdoors then these sessions for you.
