Frightful Family Fun at Ordsall Hall this Half Term

Explore Salford’s historic Tudor manor famous for its resident spirits, for an authentic, spooky day out with the family. Ordsall Hall is well known for the family-friendly activities they run through school holidays with October half term being the absolute best time to visit and take part in their spellbinding activities. There’s a Gnome Trail, a Magic Potion workshop and a Halloween Grotto the kids will love…



Magic Potions and Secret Spells

Come to the kitchen at Ordsall Hall and meet a magical resident.

Have a go at making a ‘magic potion’ and decorating the bottle ready to do some magic at home. Drop-in activity, no booking required.

This activity is available on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd October from 10am – 12pm.

Please note: the Hall is closed on Fridays and Saturdays.

Cost: £1.50


Halloween Grotto

Come and meet the resident Ordsall Hall witch in her grotto, have a go at some spells and beat her riddles – if you dare! All brave souls will receive a special Halloween gift.

The Witch will be in her Halloween Grotto on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25 October between 12pm – 3pm.

Please book onto a 15 minute time slot and all brave souls will be seen on a first come first served basis during that period.

Cost: £5 (plus booking fee)

Halloween Gnome Trail

Spooky, scary and ghoulish gnomes have taken over Ordsall Hall. Can you find them all? Drop-in activity, no booking required.

This activity is available from Sunday 21 to Sunday 28 October during the Hall’s opening hours:

  • Sundays: 1pm – 4pm
  • Monday to Thursday: 10am – 4pm

Cost: £1.00

Transport/parking options for getting to and from Ordsall Hall

Limited pay and display parking (coins only) is available outside the museum. An overflow car park is available at the University of Salford’s Irwell Place car park, which is pay and display or pay by phone. Salford Crescent Station is a 2 minute walk from the museum and we are on a major bus route from the city centre.
